Scanning a row of newspaper racks, the word "bonus" is featured in a headline. A young lady illustrating a story snaps her fingers back and forth, semi-rhythmically. A game of ball and jacks transpires outside a recondite suburban strip mall. Eyes lock, ears perk; ocular and aural foci are implemented. All other senses cease to function; everything around the stimulant catalyst darkens. A bead of sweat forms on the temple and rolls down the right cheek. The mouth becomes an arid graveyard of splintered syllables. Ring. Bonus. Snap. Bounce. There they go again. These sounds, these words—! Fists tighten as these stimuli swirl and tear at the cerebral cortex. Only one thing exists to alleviate these neuroses and restore order to the world.
